6 June 2013: Following ten years of operation in Mainland China, Michael Page, part of global recruitment firm PageGroup, has experienced significant growth across the Greater China region. The business has recently invested in significant additional office capacity in Shanghai and Guangzhou to accommodate its growth and enable continued expansion. After opening its first Mainland China office in Shanghai (Puxi) in 2003, the Michael Page Puxi team has relocated to a new, larger office accommodating 130 people – an additional 40 people than the previous space. The business has also secured a new spacious office in Guangzhou and as this team grows, the business strategy is to increase the offering scope and extend into new disciplines. In addition, the Shanghai Pudong business has been busy and the office is close to full capacity after just three years.Commenting on the strength of the China business, Richard King, Managing Director for North & Eastern China, said; “While Michael Page has grown to be the largest professional recruitment firm in China, we see enormous scope for further growth. We are committed to investing in the region and providing our clients and candidates with an extensive recruitment offering delivered by our exceptional consulting staff.”Since setting up in Puxi, Shanghai ten years ago, Michael Page has demonstrated its commitment to providing a premium recruitment offering across Asian markets, particularly in China where the business now has a total of six offices. The Michael Page Beijing and Shenzhen offices opened in 2008 and these businesses have been growing strongly, while the Guangzhou and Suzhou businesses have also been strengthening along with the two Shanghai offices.“Greater China continues to present enormous potential for the Michael Page brand and the region is hugely diverse from a business and cultural perspective,” said Andy Bentote, Senior Managing Director for Hong Kong and Southern China. “We have ambitious plans in place to expand by following our consistent strategy of organic growth across Greater China, which will involve further strengthening our already market leading disciplines as well as the launch of new disciplines and locations.”With around 400 Michael Page employees across China, the business remains focused on its strategy of organic growth and reinforcing its position as the leading recruitment firm in Greater China. Its progressive and market-leading management team comprised of native Chinese Directors, Regional Directors and Managing Directors, all with outstanding local industry knowledge, ensures the business is best placed to understand the recruitment needs of both Chinese and Multinational organisations within Greater China, as well as the jobseeker perspective.“The foundation we have built in Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, where we have operated for nearly 20 years, has provided us with an excellent springboard for significant growth across Greater China,” says Anthony Thompson, Regional Managing Director for Greater China. “Our Directors in the region have more than 150 years experience with PageGroup collectively, and the great majority of our management team have been hired locally and developed into their leadership roles. Our strong focus on training and development as a critical success factor remains unchanged, and we recognise that our people really are our greatest asset. Our Greater China team is looking forward to the next decade, which promises to be even more growth oriented than the last.”Media ReleasesOver Half of Greater China Employers Plan to Hire in 2015Global survey shows financial leaders becoming drivers of changeHong Kong’s employment market continues to display positive signs of growth View more...
